Orwell blackwhite doublethink politics war propaganda lies PR iraq bush immigration theocracy
If you want to see the type of xenophobic smear campaign that the right could launch in mass against Sen. Obama (should he win his party's nomination), just take a quick stop by the folksy theocratic world of Faith and Freedom Network and Gary Randall's blog on that site:
Fortunately, there are some who are beginning to ask and look into who this man is and what he is all about.
Is he a lapsed Muslim, a new Christian or some hybrid version of both?
My first reaction was not shock, since I had read this a month before on the right-wing Investor's Business Daily :
At the core of the Democratic front-runner's faith — whether lapsed Muslim, new Christian or some mixture of the two — is African nativism, which raises political issues of its own.
But wait there's more. Here's Randall discussing Obama's pastor:
His pastor and spiritual advisor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, once traveled to Libya with supremacist Louis Farrakhan to meet with Qaddafi, who was then considered a terrorist leader.
Here's the IBD editorial:
Wright once traveled to Libya with black supremacist Louis Farrakhan to meet with terrorist leader Muammar Qaddafi.
Now I have to give Mr. Randall credit, he is no longer directly cutting and pasting other's words and using them as his own. He has taken the time to make a few changed; but (and I am sure that any teacher out there would back me up) he is still plagiarizing, beyond the examples I put above.
That is a fact that should in and of itself give us pause in trusting any information that Randall puts out there.
Add to that the fact that IBD and Randall are making a case that is nothing more than one of guilt by association. His pastor once went to Lybia! Farrakhan was there too! Barrak's family is from Kenya, and there is civil strife and violence there! Obviously all those things must directly transfer to Sen. Obama. Which means he is secretly a black Muslim supremacist!
What a nasty load of crap Randall (by was of plagiarism) is trying to sell us. One has to wonder exactly how far away we are from these nut-jobs telling us that Obama wants to sell our white women to machete wielding Kenyans.
Sad.
Well, those arguments seem to be grounded in better "logic" than the
argument against Obama for not wearing a flag pin on the lapel of his
jakcet...
